Hydrocephalus is the most frequent reason children undergo brain surgery.

In the United States, we spend $2 billion dollars a year treating 70,000 individuals with hydrocephalus. It is the most common birth defect and can result from over 180 different disorders and diseases.

We believe there’s a better way

Most of the research in advancing care of people affected by hydrocephalus is designing better shunts. We are working on finding a medication to treat hydrocephalus so that we can avoid brain surgery.
